So, apparently Twitter has increased its video length to 120 seconds. So, with 2-minutes can you tell a compelling enough narrative? I don’t know, I probably won’t use the video feature even as I’m a regularly active Twitter user. That being the case, the stock wasn’t that responsive today, as it closed flat at a .12% decline. Essentially, it’s not really perceived as a major needle mover to core fundamentals. Furthermore, the social networking sites have been broadcasting that they’re interested in video content, as both Twitter and Facebook have opened up their platforms to be more video-centric in the timelines. That being the case, I believe Twitter is starting to increase video length in response to their recent licensing deals with the NFL. Twitter needs to set up users for longer format content, and quite frankly, I don’t know if this will succeed. I’m sure hoping it does, but it’s not really changing my stance on the stock.I think investors should continue avoiding Twitter for now, until a sizeable improvement in user engagement trends materializes.
