Yep, so basically the United States screwed up any hopes of Amazon flying around drones to drop off packages. Go figure, leave it to the aviation administration to screw things up, as they often do in the United States. Everything from keeping terrorists outside of the United States, imposing ridiculous height limitations near airports, and so on. In the case of Amazon shareholders, the day of robots zipping around as they drop stuff to your door may not come to pass. We’ll still see clogged up post office boxes and etc. The future is nay, and the U.S. government adds one more list of red-tape screw ups to its list. Here’s what was reported by Mashable:However, much of what's outlined in those new rules pretty much dashes the hopes of Amazon, Walmart and others who want to start air-dropping products to our homes. So while these new rules do lay the much-needed groundwork for commercial drone operation in U.S. airspace, they leave little (but not no) wiggle room for any use cases besides search and rescue operations and research.Basically we can kiss goodbye drone deliveries in our financial models. The likelihood of Amazon saving even more money on parcel delivery is unlikely going forward. And for now, we’ll continue to drudge through expensive same day delivery prices. Don’t forget to smile to the FedEx delivery person, or they’ll drop your package on purpose. I still like Amazon though, with or without drone deliveries. Staying bullish here.
